WHY I WANT TO SEE ATIKU AND BUHARI DEBATE ON TV: THE 53 SUITCASES

In 1985, General Buhari was the Head of State and ATIKU was the comptroller of Customs in charge of Ikeja Airport.

An event occurred for which the both of them keep throwing accusations against each other until as recently as 2011 without justice and a closure on the matter.

The head of state had ordered a currency change in 1985. However,  Mustapha Jokolo,  the then Aide de Camp of Gen. Buhari and present Emir of Gwandu,  moved in 53 suitcases allegedly filled with cash into the country.

ATIKU stated in his biography,  titled MY LIFE,  which I have read that " the money was moved in in a military style without the customs having any say in how the suitcases were cleared.  As a matter of fact,  he said that the military boys threatened to open fire on his boys  at the airport during the operation.

The 53 suitcases were, however, ferried through the Murtala Muhammed Airport without Customs check by soldiers allegedly at the behest of Major Mustapha Jokolo, the then Aide-de-Camp, ADC, to Gen. Buhari. Atiku was at that time the Area Comptroller of Customs in charge of the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

There is no way I can personally hold ATIKU responsible for the 53 suitcases.  He was not the head of state.

Mustafa Jokolo  was the man working with Buhari and he was the one who tele-supervised the operation.

Buhari and ATIKU must bring closure to this matter once and for all and justice needs to be done.

I just don't know why,  since 1984, Buhari has always been in the dark when something negative happens.

As head of state,  he didn't know.  As President,  he still doesn't know.

Can we bring a closure to the 53 suitcase matter.  The three main actors are still alive.
