MEET ALAGBA ...THE 343 YEARS OLD LIVING THING THAT HAS SEEN THE 20 SOUNS OF OGBOMOSHO KINGDOM.
There are five ruling houses in the kingdom of Ogbomosho.
But there is only one 'Alagba' who has witnessed the reign of all the kings since the existence of Ogbomosho as a kingdom.
From the 1st to the present Soun of Ogbomosho, there has been only one Alagba who is said to be about 343 years old. This tortoise is almost twice the age of Mr. Jonathan, the tortoise believed to be the oldest in the world.
As at today, historians believe that Mr. Jonathan of St Helena is the oldest tortoise in the world at only 180 years old.
The people at the palace and out side it disagreed vehemently with me and one almost got angry when he heard me mention a certain Mr Jonathan who lives in Saint Helena to be the oldest tortoise alive.
Does the Nigerian Animal Society, if there is any association like that, know about Alagba? What global claims have they made on Alagba?
By the way, the average life span of a tortoise is 150 years.
Like many great things unknown to our country, is Alagba the oldest tortoise in the world?

Isn't there a process to determining such claims? I see no need to get emotional about Alagba's age at all.
